⚡ TV Picks 2026

Best overall: LG C6 OLED (55", $1,299). Best for bright rooms: Samsung QN90C Neo QLED. Best budget OLED: Samsung S90C 2025 (clearance, $999 55"). Best for gaming: LG C6 OLED — HDMI 2.1, 144Hz, G-Sync + FreeSync. Best picture quality: LG G6 OLED Evo ($2,499).

OLED vs QLED vs Mini-LED — What to Buy in 2026

OLED (Organic LED): Each pixel emits its own light and can turn completely off. Result: perfect black levels, infinite contrast, the best picture for dark room viewing and HDR content. Weakness: lower peak brightness than Mini-LED, potential burn-in from static images. Best brands: LG, Samsung (QD-OLED), Sony.

QLED (Quantum LED): LED backlighting with quantum dot color enhancement. More accurate colors than standard LED. Still backlit — cannot achieve OLED's perfect blacks. Strength: much higher peak brightness (better in bright rooms). Price: generally 20-40% less than comparable OLED. Best brand: Samsung.

Mini-LED: Thousands of tiny LED zones instead of large backlighting zones — better local dimming than standard QLED. Gets much brighter than OLED (3,000-4,000 nits vs OLED's 1,000-1,500). Best for: bright sunlit rooms, HDR peak highlights, sports. Best brands: Samsung Neo QLED, LG QNED, TCL QM.

Smart TV Platform — Which OS Is Best?

webOS (LG): The smoothest, fastest smart TV OS. Best app selection, quickest navigation. Tizen (Samsung): Excellent with deepest Samsung ecosystem integration. Good app library. Google TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense): Best for Google/Android users — Google Assistant, Play Store apps, Chromecast built-in. Avoid: Roku TVs have the best value for US content but limited international content. Amazon Fire TV has Amazon bias in recommendations.

Smart TV — FAQ

TV buying questions

Best TV brands in 2026 by category: Best OLED TVs: LG — pioneered OLED technology, most models, best software (webOS). Best QLED/Mini-LED: Samsung — highest brightness, best for bright rooms, excellent gaming features. Best for movie enthusiasts: Sony — best picture processing (XR Cognitive Processor), excellent motion handling. Best budget value: TCL and Hisense — deliver 80% of premium TV performance at 50-60% of the price. For most people: LG C6 OLED (cinema performance, gaming-ready, excellent OS) or Samsung Neo QLED (brighter, better for sunlit rooms) are the two clearest recommendations depending on viewing environment.
TV size recommendation based on viewing distance: 1.5m viewing distance: 43-50 inch. 2m viewing distance: 55-65 inch. 2.5-3m viewing distance: 65-75 inch. 3m+ viewing distance: 75-85 inch. Most people buy TVs too small for their viewing distance — this is the most common TV purchasing mistake. The perceived size difference between 55" and 65" from 2.5m is significant. If you are debating between two sizes and are above your minimum recommendation distance, choose the larger one. 4K resolution remains sharp from any of these distances.
